Counseling ServicesMenopause is more than just a physical change. It can lead to mental, emotional, and sexual changes as well. The Memorial Center for Menopausal Medicine provides the following services to help women and their partners work through these changes:

    • Menopause counseling
    • Survivorship counseling (for women who have experienced cancer or other medical conditions)
    • Romance counseling
    • Gynechiatry

Pamela Gaudry, M.D., is trained in menopause and medical sex therapy. She is a North American Menopause Society Certified Menopause Practitioner. She completed her medical sex therapy instruction over the course of two years and personally trained with one of the leading medical sex therapists in the country, Michael Krychman, M.D.

“A huge omission in the practice of gynecology is the lack of attention given to intimacy and romance. While gynecologists feel comfortable discussing the problems that women have in their vaginas and pelvic area, they have a harder time discussing sexual wellness, challenges between women and their partners, and intimate issues related to their patient’s romantic life. Since most OB/GYNs have busy obstetrics practices, there is little time to sit down and talk to women about their sexuality and happiness in their intimate relationship. I understand how important these issues are, and I want to help my patients feel healthy in all aspects of their lives, including their sexuality.”

    Counseling for Women and Men

Women are living longer and maintaining a sexual life longer than any other time in history. In general, men and women have a difficult time discussing their intimate sexual relationship even after being together for many decades. Sexual health and function are too often viewed as taboo subjects. Gaudry is working to change that.

Even in long-term marriages, it can be difficult to explain the changes of menopause to a partner. Gaudry helps couples work through these issues in a healthy, respectful way. Counseling can also help couples:
    • Improve communication
    • Improve mismatched libidos
    • Re-ignite romance
    • Work through and manage the physical and emotional changes of menopause

If you are experiencing problems in your sexual life, please contact the Memorial Center for Menopausal Medicine to schedule a consultation. If you have an OB/GYN, he or she may refer you for a series of consultations. Consultations can be done alone or with your partner.
