During their residency, we require that radiology residents participate in Memorial University Medical Center's Research Day every other year. The residents also must engage in an additional scholarly project under faculty supervision. This may take the form of laboratory research, clinical research, or the analysis of disease processes, imaging techniques, or practice management issues. The results of these projects must be submitted for publication or presentation at an institutional, local, regional, or national meeting.
Residents who submit papers to journals receive supervision, guidance, and support from the diagnostic faculty. Residents who submit papers for presentation at radiology meetings are supported and encouraged and their expenses (up to $1,000) may be paid by the hospital.
