The Georgia Hospital Association (GHA) is hosting its 87th Annual Membership Meeting at the Hyatt Regency in Savannah on Thursday, November 10, and Friday, November 11. Leaders from hospitals around the state are here to learn, share ideas, and network.
The GHA exists to "advance the health of individuals and communities by serving as the leading advocate for all Georgia hospitals and health care systems." Its 179 hospital members provide high-quality healthcare for more than 10 million individuals each year. As a member of the GHA Board of Trustees, I see first-hand the outstanding work they do for Georgia hospitals.
Memorial will be well represented at the annual meeting. On Wednesday, November 9, we hosted Leadership GHA, a group of 22 emerging hospital leaders from around the state. I had the opportunity to provide an overview of Memorial Health, and they toured our campus.
On Friday, the GHA will present its 2016 Hospital Hero awards, and our 2013 winner, Coren Ross, will speak about her experiences as a hospital volunteer fundraiser. Also on Friday, the GHA will present a video that highlights the coastal Georgia hospitals' response to Hurricane Matthew. Several Memorial leaders were interviewed for the video, which shows the outstanding efforts our teams demonstrated during this severe weather event.
As we continue to address the current challenges in the healthcare industry, it is important for us to be advocates for hospitals and our patients. I am proud to see our outstanding team recognized by the GHA.
