Memorial University Medical Center’s nursing residency programs are ideal for licensed nurses who want to change specialties, re-enter the work force, or make a smooth transition from the classroom setting to the clinical setting. New Graduate Residency Program
This highly competitive program includes 360 precepted hours and 46 hours of facilitated classroom learning. A supportive nurse preceptor will personally and professionally guide you through clinical training and dedicated mentors will help you grow in the field. A wide variety of specialty areas are available.
Operating Room Residency Program
Memorial University Medical Center has some of the most advanced surgical suites in the region. Our six-month residency program includes four to six weeks of didactic training and rotations through the entire O.R. Participants learn aseptic techniques, surgical instrumentation, and proper patient positioning for all general surgeries, endoscopic surgeries, laser techniques, and much more. Upon completion of the program you will be prepared to circulate, scrub, and take call in our state-of-the art trauma center operating room.
Critical Care/Emergency Department Residency Program
This residency program is designed for new graduate nurses hired into one of our critical care units, and experienced registered nurses who are changing clinical specialties and entering the acute care environment for the first time. The critical care residency includes 10 weeks of transition classes, with a minimum of 10 weeks of clinical practice and a completion of a critical care course.
