    Vice President, Memorial Health University Physicians

    Brett Waress was named vice president of Memorial Health University Physicians (MHUP) in 2013. Memorial Health University Physicians is a network or primary and specialty care physicians located throughout the region. Waress is responsible for ensuring Memorial’s values, patient and family centered care, team approach to medicine, and safety initiatives are furthered while patient, physician, and Team Member satisfaction are enhanced.

    Waress has worked in academic and private practice management for more than 20 years. After receiving a master’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he served in an administrative residency and several practice management positions with Lovelace Health System in New Mexico. He later helped develop a statewide management service organization in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, that served four major academic medical centers across the state. He most recently served as the vice president and chief operating officer of an academic medical practice plan with a significant private practice model and a centralized billing operation.

    Waress is a fellow in the American Academy of Medical Practice Executives and has been published in Healthcare Management Review and Medical Group Management Association publications. He has served on the boards of community colleges and regional economic development councils, and enjoys teaching and presenting on physician practice management topics.
