(January 29, 2008) – Memorial University Medical Center (MUMC) is the only hospital in southeast Georgia that has received the UnitedHealth Premium® Cardiac Specialty Center designation for quality care.
To earn the designation, MUMC had to meet extensive quality and outcomes criteria based on nationally recognized medical standards and expert advice. The criteria incorporate measurements of breadth and depth of care, staff experience, emergency care, quality, and outcomes reporting.
“We are extremely proud of this designation as it recognizes not only the high standards and full scope of our cardiac care program, but also the skill and dedication of our staff,” said James Miller, M.D., medical director for the Heart & Vascular Institute at Memorial University Medical Center.
UnitedHealthcare developed the UnitedHealth Premium Specialty Center designation to give its members information about and access to cardiac hospitals that meet rigorous quality standards. The designation is based on proficiencies submitted to UnitedHealthcare and is designed to help members make informed decisions when they need cardiac care.
