New Members Join Memorial Health Board of Directors

(April 6, 2009) – The Memorial Health Board of Directors has confirmed Robert F. Brown, Jr., M.D., and J.T. Turner, Jr., as new Board Members. Robert F. Brown, Jr., M.D., practices internal medicine at Chatham Medical Associates. He is also an associate clinical professor at Mercer University School of Medicine. Brown is a fellow in the American College of Physicians and was named one of America’s Top Physicians by the Consumers’ Research Council of America in 2006. He is actively involved in Isle of Hope United Methodist Church and is the former vice president of the Savannah Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation. Brown attended Armstrong and the Medical College of Georgia. He completed his residency training at Memorial. J.T. Turner, Jr., is the founder of J.T. Turner Construction Company, Inc., a building and contracting business in Savannah. Turner graduated from Mercer University and began his career in banking before starting his own business. He has been active in numerous community organizations, including the YMCA of the Coastal Empire, First Chatham Bank, Historic Savannah Foundation, and the Mercer University Board of Trustees. Turner is also the current chair of the Memorial Health Foundation Board of Directors, which oversees fundraising for Memorial. The 16-member Memorial Health Board of Directors establishes operational policies for the health system. It also ensures that the long-range strategic planning, budget, resource allocation, and policies are consistent with the mission of the organization. In addition to the incoming members, the Board includes William “Bill” Daniel (chair), J. Curtis Lewis, III, (vice chair), Helen Downing (secretary), Kay A. Ford (treasurer), Curtis G. Anderson, Gus H. Bell, William J. Degenhart, M.D., Brian R. Foster, Michael A. Kaigler, William L.D. Lyght, Charles F. McMillan, Mark E. Murphy, M.D., Karen Pannell, and Christopher L. Wixon, M.D.
