MUMC Names Director of Laboratory Oncology Research

(March 29, 2010) - Memorial University Medical Center (MUMC) has appointed Wayne C. Glasgow, Ph.D., director of laboratory oncology research at the Curtis and Elizabeth Anderson Cancer Institute (ACI) at MUMC. Glasgow will direct the translational cancer research program that includes researchers and physicians from both the ACI and Mercer University School of Medicine.

Under his leadership, physicians and scientists will work together to quickly move scientific discoveries from the laboratory to the patient care arena where they can truly impact the way we treat cancer," said Steven Brower, M.D., FACS, senior vice president and director of the ACI.

Glasgow previously served as associate dean for research at Mercer University School of Medicine and interim senior associate dean for Mercer's Savannah campus. He chaired the department of biomedical sciences at the Savannah campus and was professor of pharmacology at Mercer's Macon, Ga., campus. Glasgow received his bachelor's degree in chemistry from the Georgia Institute of Technology and his Ph.D. in pharmacology from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.
