Memorial Health and Novant Health Announce Strategic Alliance

(August 30, 2012) - Memorial Health and Novant Health are pleased to announce a new strategic partnership. This partnership includes a shared services agreement and future growth initiatives. Novant Health Shared Services offers operational infrastructure and efficiencies, such as supply chain and clinical engineering; access to resources including information technology; and best practice collaboration.

The shared services model aligns with the national mandate to deliver high-quality healthcare in a more affordable and integrated system. By working together, leaders at Memorial and Novant believe they can improve patient care, expand access, and reduce costs for both organizations. Both organizations will remain independent with local management and local governance.

"Memorial is committed to providing high-quality care for our patients," said Maggie Gill, president and CEO of Memorial Health. "By partnering with Novant, we will create cost-saving and growth opportunities that will provide significant value to our patients, Team Members, and communities. Together, we will share an incredible depth of clinical expertise and continue to improve the patient and family experience. We are excited about this collaboration and believe our cultures, values and mission are well aligned."

"At Novant Health, we are committed to delivering a remarkable experience to every patient we serve. Not only do we strive to provide the highest quality care possible, we are diligently working to reduce healthcare costs in our industry to create a more affordable model of delivering health care," said Carl Armato, president and CEO of Novant Health.
