Memorial Health and Evans Memorial Announce Strategic Partnership

(April 4, 2013) – Memorial Health in Savannah, Ga., and Evans Memorial Hospital in Claxton, Ga., have announced a new strategic partnership to meet the challenges of the new healthcare environment.

This partnership offers many opportunities for these two healthcare organizations to work together. The hospitals will collaborate on improving access to healthcare services, enhancing patient care, reducing supply expenses, and sharing operational best practices and clinical excellence. Because Memorial is a teaching hospital, there is also an opportunity to partner on physician recruitment.

"The changing healthcare environment means we have to find a new way to do business," said Martha Tatum, CEO of Evans Memorial Hospital. "Our top priority is providing safe, quality healthcare for Evans County. This partnership will assure that Evans Memorial will remain locally owned and operated and still offer our patients access to quality medical services. At the same time, we can benefit from the economies of scale that Memorial Health can offer."

"Memorial Health and Evans Memorial share common goals – to improve patient care, grow our organizations, and become stronger financially. We believe we can best accomplish these by working together, and we are excited about the opportunities this new partnership offers for both organizations," said Maggie Gill, president and CEO of Memorial Health.

Evans Memorial Hospital is a 49-bed acute care facility. It is accredited by The Joint Commission and has full medical capabilities, including inpatient, outpatient, and emergency services.
