Savannah, GA – Memorial Health is pleased to announce Claudia Emami, MD, MPH, FACS, FAAP, has joined the organization as its new Associate Chief Medical Officer (ACMO). In this role, she will focus on quality, evidence-based practice, and clinical outcomes. She will also work closely with medical directors to improve clinical care, operational outcomes, and patient experience at Memorial Health. Dr. Emami joined Memorial Health on February 1.
“We are excited to have Dr. Claudia Emami join our leadership team,” said Corbi Milligan, MD, Chief Medical Officer at Memorial Health. “She is a knowledgeable physician leader who brings a significant experience in clinical operations and quality to our health system.
Dr. Emami is a board-certified pediatric surgeon with experience in a variety of pediatric surgical diseases and congenital neonatal conditions. Prior to joining Memorial Health, she was in private practice with Beverly Hills Pediatric Surgery, a premier pediatric surgery clinic in Beverly Hills, CA. She also served as Section Chief for General Surgery at Huntington Memorial Hospital, a 544-bed facility with the area’s largest emergency department and a Level II trauma center. There, she provided physician leadership for medical staff engagement, credentialing, quality improvement and patient safety. Dr. Emami also spearheaded the hospital’s electronic medical record transition to Epic, and several quality improvement projects. She also served as the physician leader for the hospital’s general surgery residency.
Dr. Emami is active in several medical societies and holds leadership positions with the American College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
She earned a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics from the University of California at Los Angeles and completed her medical degree at the University of Southern California (USC) Keck School of Medicine. She received her general surgery residency training at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center and completed a pediatric surgery fellowship at McGill University Children's Hospital in Montreal, Canada.
