A new medically managed weight-loss program, designed for those with a significant amount of weight to lose, begins February 1 at Memorial Health Bariatrics. Your New Weigh to Live uses one-on-one in-person and virtual consultations with a registered dietitian, educational classes, and regular weigh-ins to help participants learn to make healthier choices in every area of their lives.
Memorial Health Bariatrics is a nationally recognized center of excellence for bariatric surgery. But surgery is not always the best choice for every overweight patient, says Chloe Paddison, RDN, L.D., a registered dietitian who is coordinating Your New Weigh to Live.
“This program is ideal for people who don’t qualify for bariatric surgery or who do qualify, but want to try an intensive weight-loss program first,” she says. Patients who have already had bariatric surgery and want to get back on track with their weight loss may also benefit.
Your New Weigh to Live includes 14 weekly 90-minute educational classes that may be viewed online. Topics cover nutrition label reading, menu and meal planning, stress management, bariatric cooking, planning for long-term success, and much more.
“Our participants also have access to a dietitian 24/7, via phone and email,” Paddison says. “That can make a big difference when you’re facing challenges outside regular business hours.”
Participants may choose from two packages: the 14-week comprehensive package for $650 (a payment plan is available) and the customizable package for $100, plus $55 per class, as requested. Participants must be referred by a physician and medically cleared for Your New Weigh to Live. To learn more, call (912) 350-3438.
