Mission:

Safe Kids Savannah is a nonprofit organization working to help families and communities keep kids safe from unintentional injuries. We aim to achieve this goal through community partnerships, detailed education on safety topics, distribution of safety equipment, public awareness and advocacy.

Memorial Health Dwaine & Cynthia Willet Children’s Hospital of Savannah is proud to serve as Safe Kids Savannah’s lead agency, providing all necessary support in the mission to keep kids safe. Memorial Health’s Dwaine and Cynthia Willett Children's Hospital of Savannah is the only children's hospital in southeast Georgia and southern South Carolina. They care for all types of pediatric patients, including newborns, kids and teens. Since 1992, they have helped thousands of children from more than 100 counties. They are located on Memorial Health’s campus next to the Heart & Vascular Institute.

Programs:

  • Child Passenger Safety (CPS): Safe Kids Savannah’s CPS program educates parents and caregivers on proper installation and use of child restraints as well as safety in and around cars through child safety seat inspections.   • Water Safety: Safe Kids Savannah’s lifejacket loaner boards are scattered throughout Chatham, Bryan, Effingham, and Liberty counties. These locations have lifejackets available for use at no cost. Program efforts also include educational materials and resources to teach water safety to children and adults.
  • Pedestrian Safety: Safe Kids Savannah’s pedestrian safety program teaches young children the importance of being safe while walking along sidewalks and crossing streets. Education includes safety resources such as reflectors to be seen while enjoying time outside.
  • Home Safety: Home safety programs target all aspects of keeping kids safe in and around the house. A variety of topics focused on can include fire safety, burn safety, poison prevention, safe sleep, and toy safety.
  • Bike and Wheeled Safety: Educational programs include Bike Rodeos and helmet distribution to inform parents and children on how to properly fit helmets, inspect bikes, and follow general safety measures.
