When preparing for surgery, education is power. We believe that informed patients who know exactly what to expect have better outcomes. We encourage you to learn about your procedure, ask questions, follow your doctor's instructions, and arrive for your surgery with a positive attitude. Our world-class surgical teams are with you every step of the way. We look forward to helping you through this important process.
Before your surgery, your physician’s office or a representative from Memorial Health University Medical Center will contact you for a pre-surgery interview. Depending on the type of surgery you’re having, the interview may be done in person or over the telephone. You will speak with a registered nurse about your medical history, receive information about your procedure, receive your pre-surgery instructions, and be encouraged to ask questions.
Some pre-surgery testing also requires blood tests, urine tests, and/or a heart rhythm study.
The pre-surgery testing unit is located in Memorial Health University Medical Center, next to the Provident Building and Parking Deck A. The unit is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
You can reach pre-surgery testing at (912) 350-8484 or (866) 660-2926.
