Patients can learn more about Roberts and her practice at MemorialHealthDoctors.com.

Dr. Donna J. Roberts, a family medicine physician, has joined the staff of Memorial Health University Physicians | Adult Primary Care Bluffton. For more than two decades, she practiced in the Atlanta area, where her patients voted her "Most Compassionate Physician" multiple times.

That commitment to personalized patient care is a quality Roberts says has been all but lost in today's medical system.

"I believe that, while medicine is a science, its practice is an art," she said. "Patients are patrons of that art, and they deserve the best in knowledge, judgment and compassion from their physician."

Roberts, a Savannah native, was a precocious student with a love of chemistry and healthcare who started college at age 16. She received a bachelor's degree in pharmacy, then decided she wanted to be involved in more hands-on patient care.

Roberts earned her medical degree at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. She spent two years in a general surgery internship at Memorial Health University Medical Center before completing her family medicine residency training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

In her Bluffton practice, she provides preventive and primary care for adults. She is especially interested in women's health and heart disease prevention for both women and men.

Now that they have moved closer to home, Roberts and her husband, Arthur, who is also a Savannah native, look forward to visiting family and friends. They are wildlife enthusiasts who enjoy outdoor activities and can't wait to get out on the May River again for boating and sailing with their Labrador retrievers, Forrest and Lilly. Roberts calls herself a dedicated SEC football fan and weekend athlete who has competed in a number of 10Ks, half marathons and triathlons.
